China hit by searing temperatures as Asia braces for extreme summer

Temperatures in parts of north and central China are reaching unprecedented highs this week. A severe drought in the east is also posing a threat to crops, as nations across Asia prepare for another summer marked by extreme weather conditions. China is experiencing several days of intense heat. Northern India is also in the middle of a prolonged heat wave, with temperatures exceeding 50C in late May.
