New plant species discovered in Maharashtra's Pench Tiger Reserve: Forest official

During a survey at Gol Pahadi Island in the Pench Tiger Reserve of Maharashtra, a forest official announced the discovery of a new plant species within the Polygonum genus. For a year-long floral survey in Pench, 863 plant species from 554 genera and 117 families were documented, as reported by Dr Prabhu Nath Shukla, the deputy director of PTR. Dr K Chandramohan, one of the surveyors, informed that a newly identified herbaceous plant species named Polygonum Chaturbhujanum has been found at Gol Pahadi island in PTR.
