Scientists warn that the Himalayas are at risk of more glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs) due to climate change, construction, and pollution. Sikkim, which recently experienced flash floods, is not the only vulnerable region; Himachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir are also susceptible. Factors contributing to GLOFs include melting glaciers, earthquakes, and black carbon emissions.
